Before DragonV.com
First website with WindowMenu theme.
My first website was first found in 1997, at that time it was simply called "Vincent's Homepage". The website began with just a few links and images before it used the WindowMenu Java Applet as the theme. During that time the site was hosted in various locations and didn't have it's own domain name. The first URLs for the website were at http://www.skyinternet.com/~vincent, http://members.home.net/dragonv, and http://dragonv.brainchild.org. At end of 1998, I used my old computer an Intel 486 166 with 16 MB ram, and 250 MB hard drive as the server for the site. The server ran smoothing under the FreeBSD 3.4 operating system and Apache Web Server. With it's new home, it soon followed with the domain name http://dragonv.3tec.com thanks to the generosity of Tritech.
Dragon V Forever - Version 2.0
Finalize version of "DragonV Forever"
During the summer of 1999 the website transformed into its 2nd version having a new blue theme. The theme was based on an internal website which I worked on during my co-op year program. It was finalize at December 16, 1999 and was named as "DragonV Forever". In the spring of 2000 "DragonV Forever" found another new server. This server was a Intel Pentium 200 MMX with 32MB ram, and 4GB hard drive. The heart of the server was again FreeBSD, and Apache Web Server, however it was also powerful enough to add additional applications such as Apache JServ, and MySQL database. On May 26, 2000 the domain name dragonv.com was officially registered for the website.
DragonV.com - Version 3.0
DragonV.com - Version 3.0 was released on April, 2001.
On April 23, 2001, "DragonV.com - Version 3.0" made its first premier appearance. The theme of the new version was totally redesigned, and the website made use of Servlets and JSP (part of the (Java 2 Platform Enterprise) technologies which were growing popular at that time.
DragonV.com - Version 4.0
On February 28, 2003, the 4th version of "DragonV.com"
was released. This new theme carried over a similar style
from the previous version while it eliminated the majority of images,
leading to improved performance in loading time. The website
was also design so that it will automatically adjust itself to fit the
width of the browser it was displayed in. The front-end architecture was migrated
to use Jakarta Struts,
providing a greater separation from the presentation and business/data
layer within the website and fitted closer to the MVC (Model-View-Controller) architecture.
